Between City, Culture and Urban Nature

Marktplatz Dornbirn

After a long day of talks at Kulturhaus or exhibitions at the Messequartier, the head is often in a spin. Dornbirn is the perfect place to restore balance, with nature right on its doorstep, urban cultural venues, mountain getaways, and activities that help teams slow down.

Cultural and culinary destinations

After intense conversations or workshops, a change of scenery is often called for. In Dornbirn, there are plentiful options for just that right in the city centre – whether through various guided tours or a Secret Room, where teams need to come together and solve fun riddles.

This is also a city with plenty to offer the tastebuds. At the Mohren Beer Experience, groups can immerse themselves in the world of beer. And if you’re willing to venture a little further afield, you can look behind the scenes at another regional staple: the "Lustenauer Senf" Mustard Factory, guaranteed to be a tasty experience. Group packages for guided tours are available for groups of 15 or more.

Excursions into nature

Water can be simultaneously energizing and relaxing, and nowhere is that truer than in Dornbirn. On the one hand, the Dornbirner Ach is the city’s largest river, a place of repose on hot summer days. But it’s also left its mark in limestone over the millennia, which the Rappenloch and Alploch gorges are testament to. On a guided tour of the area, the team can get up close and personal to see firsthand the power of water.

Those looking for a more relaxing time could consider heading to the Rhine River in nearby Lustenau. The historic Rheinbähnle steam train runs here, where visitors can take a closer look at its workings and the history of steam trains at the various Rhein-Schauen museum halls. Groups can book private train rides, and the museum can also be used for meetings.

Mountain destinations

If it’s fresh air your group needs after busy days, an activity programme could take you up to Bödele oder Karren. With a guided herbal hike at Bödele, the group can explore the Fohramoos Nature Reserve and learn about many wild herbs, medicinal plants, and traditional knowledge of nature.

Fresh mountain air and panoramic views are also the order of the day atop Karren, Dornbirn’s imposing local mountain. The Karren cable car brings your group up to an altitude of 976 m, where spectacular views and an impressive restaurant await. For the more active people in the group, there are also various hiking trails leading up to the mountain top.

Are there adrenaline junkies in your group? They will surely appreciate the flying fox in Ebnit, where groups can zipline through breathtaking Alpine scenery.

Indoor destinations

In case the weather is not on your side, Dornbirn still offers the chance for close encounters with nature indoors thanks to inatura, an interactive museum for close encounters with the natural sciences.

For groups there are tours available, with groups over 30 divided in two.

Alternatively, groups can get stuck in with a pottery workshop at Tonhalle Dornbirn, ideal for switching off completely from the day’s event and letting creative juices flow.
