Alpine city life is when mountain and city are located so closely together that it is possible to take advantage of both. While the head is spinning in meeting rooms in the mornings, the cobwebs can be blown away by the fresh mountain air on the Karren in the afternoons. Dornbirn's local mountain is right at the heart of it all and the cable car takes visitors up to 976 metres in no time at all. Vistas as distant as Lake Constance, the Swiss mountains and across the Rhine valley present themselves depending on the vantage point and hiking destination. And, once up there, it is definitely worth taking a souvenir photo on the 12-metre-long ‘Karren-Kante’ platform under the panoramic restaurant before taking in the view with a drink on the panoramic terrace.
