Ausstellungsraum Barockbaumeister Museum

The Barockbaumeister Museum is dedicated to the impressive history of the Au guild, which established itself in Au and Schoppernau as early as the 17th century. Through seasonal emigration, craftsmanship and building up knowledge on building sites at home and abroad, the Bregenzerwald Baroque master builders had a lasting impact on life in their homeland. Their cultural heritage can still be seen today in numerous important buildings and churches around Lake Constance and beyond.

In addition to their influence on European architecture, the master builders also established an affinity for high-quality, aesthetic architecture in the Bregenzerwald that can still be felt today. This tradition is reflected in the characteristic design of the regional houses. The museum itself is located in the listed and carefully renovated Kurathus, which has provided space for exhibitions, a parish and a social facility since 2021.
