For a few weeks, a small festival with a large fan community attracts international stars and an international audience to Schwarzenberg and Hohenems. Established in 1976, the famous Schubert Festival grew to such an extent that it now hosts over 90 events a year. The recently redeveloped Markus-Sittikus Hall in Hohenems – the foundation place of the Schubertiade – provides one stage for song evenings, chamber concerts and piano recital evenings, and the Angelika-Kauffmann Hall in Schwarzenberg provides a second one. Once you are acquainted with Schubert’s music, you will continue to return – the days spent in the countryside surrounded by the exclusive music are too idyllic to resist.
